Frequently asked questions
Do you accept credit card payments?
Paypal for deposit and cash/ACH payments for the rest.
What are your visitation hours?
Please refer to Contact Us - Visitation is by appointment only.
What’s the best way to reach you?
Email is preferred. We may not always be at the computer, as we dedicate time to care for our dogs, but we strive to respond to emails promptly.
Are the puppies socialized?
Yes, they are interacted with daily and socialize with other puppies.
Do the adult dogs receive health checks?
Yes, our veterinarian conducts health checks on the knees and hearts of all our dogs.
How long have you been breeding?
Our selective breeding started in 2001, with a specialization in JPS since 2021.
Do the dogs have room to run around?
Yes, all our dogs enjoy expansive pens that allow them to run freely, plus they can explore our 2-acre yard, providing them with plenty of exercise.
Do you take deposits before puppies are born?
We have a waiting list and puppies will available when they reach 6 weeks old.
Is the $500 deposit refundable?
We reserve the right to determine whether to retain the full deposit if the customer cancels. No refunds will be issued after the reserved puppy reaches the 12-week mark without a pickup.
Do you maintain a waiting list?
Yes, we have a Notification Email list. Notifications are sent out when the puppies become available. Puppies will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis after the email has been sent. Regardless of how long a person has been on the list, everyone has an equal chance to select a puppy. We believe this method ensures fairness and simplicity. We intentionally limit our litter and have a short waiting list.
Can we choose a puppy without visiting?
Yes, provided the fee is paid in full. We conduct verbal sales via email.
At what age can puppies go home?
Puppies can be taken home at 10 weeks or older.
Smaller puppies (under 4 lbs) will stay longer until we deem it appropriate for them to go home.
Once we select a puppy, can we visit it before it’s ready to go home?
Yes, once the fee is paid in full.
What type of dog food do you provide?
Our adult dogs eat Kirkland Signature Super Premium Chicken, Rice, and Vegetables from Costco.
Puppies are fed Kirkland Signature Nature's Domain Puppy Chicken & Pea Formula.
Is there a boarding fee if I pick up my puppy after the earliest date?
If the fee is fully paid and the puppy is picked up within 15 days of being ready, there is no boarding fee. If necessary, we can keep your puppy longer. The first 15 days are free, after which there is a charge of $30 per day.
How can you determine the size of the puppies when they are fully grown?
It's still a guess, but factors considered include the parent's size, the sex of the puppy—males typically weigh a bit more—and comparing them to their littermates.
Do you ship puppies?
No, we do not ship puppies. However, you are welcome to fly out and pick up the puppy in person or pay a flat delivery fee of $1500 within 500 miles of Denver International Airport. The final delivery location must be within 50 miles of your nearest airport.
You will also need to purchase a one-way ticket for the puppy, which may cost around $125, plus an approved collapsible crate ($20-$60) that will go under the airplane seat.
Can we bring our family pet to meet the puppy we selected?
We request that you do not bring other pets to our facility. This is because any pet can carry viruses or bacteria without showing signs of illness. If one of our dogs or puppies were to catch something, it could potentially spread throughout our kennel. If necessary, please keep your pet in your car.
Will my puppy be housebroken before I take it home?
We will attempt to train your puppy to use a doggy door, follow basic commands, and go potty outside.
What house training methods do you recommend?
Many professional trainers agree that crate training is the most effective and natural way to housebreak a puppy.
In the wild, dogs instinctively keep their sleeping area clean to avoid attracting predators. Similarly, domestic dogs tend not to soil their crates where they sleep.
What do you do to care for your dogs during winter?
All mothers and their puppies are kept in a heated building with access to doggie doors and ample-sized runs.
Will a vet check the puppies’ health?
Yes, we perform general health checks. As long as there are no signs of illness or concerns, we prefer to limit the puppies' visits to veterinary clinics, as this minimizes the risk of viruses entering our kennel. We do ask that new owners take their puppies to the vet for a checkup within 10 days of pickup.
If a puppy becomes ill or has health concerns, does the health guarantee cover any costs?
Yes, please refer to our Pet Policy.
Will the puppies be fully vaccinated when they are ready to go home?
Yes, puppies will have their first vaccination at 8 weeks. The following two booster shots are administered three weeks apart—around 11 and 14 weeks. A rabies shot is typically given at 16 weeks. A medical record will be provided to the owner for their vet.
What vaccines are given to the puppy and what do they protect against?
We utilize the Canine 1-DAPPV 5 way vaccine to protect against canine distemper, canine hepatitis, adenovirus cough (kennel cough), parainfluenza, and parvovirus for the first vaccination.
If puppies remain longer, we administer Duramune Max5/4L for the second and third vaccinations, which protects against canine distemper, canine hepatitis, adenovirus cough (kennel cough), parainfluenza, and parvovirus, in addition to four strains of Leptospira. This is also the vaccine used for our adult dogs. Dams are not vaccinated during pregnancy or while nursing.
Are your dogs registered?
We register our JPS parents with JKC and provide limited ownership registration, which means the dog cannot produce AKC registrant litters but may participate in AKC events. No breeding rights will be granted.
Breeding Rights
We retain all breeding rights and do not sell puppies intended for breeding.
Do you perform preventive deworming?
Yes, all puppies will undergo a deworming program before going to their new homes.
